Schoology roll-out

So, today I rolled out Schoology with a new-to-me group of adult learners.  

Comments I heard: 

"This is going to be fun"

"Cool rip-off of Facebook"

"YES!!! We don't have to deal with Angel!"

"How can they do this legally?"

Things I learned:

I must walk the students through the set-up process...(in the computer lab)

When they select "text message notification of changes", they will initially get a bunch of text messages.

I need to figure all the settings out so we don't get hit like that again

More things I learned:

Students WANT to update their profiles first!

Those who are active on Facebook had no problems with Schoology.  No one had any real problems navigating the site.

There is some confusion about the difference between "Home" and the course "Wall".  I think that will get figured out quickly.

Tonight's assignment: "comment" on my post: "What is your favorite car?"  We'll see what happens with that tomorrow!
